ASF At Work
The ASF team has been involved with Madikwe Game Reserve located in the North West province of South Africa, on the border with Botswana, for more than a decade. Along with the North West Parks Board, we facilitated funding, structured community private partnerships and project managed the construction of the two community-owned lodges in this Big Five destination.
The ASF supported community-based tourism luxury lodges of Thakadu River Camp and Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge, which are owned by the Seboloa and Balete Ba Lekgophung Development Trusts and have been operating for over 12 years.
One of the ASF’s first training programmes took place in Madikwe, resulting in a number of qualified nature guides being employed full time in the region, some of them going on to take employment in lodge management and the admin side of the hospitality services, as well as in park management.
