The ASL Programme is implemented through a
dedicated not-for-profit company with an independent
board of directors. Incorporated under Section
21 of the South African Companies Act the African
Safari Lodge Foundation’s sole purpose
is to implement the ASL Programme.
The day-to-day activities of the ASL are managed
by a Programme Management Unit (PMU) consisting
of Peter John Massyn, Steve Collins and
Sandra Mombelli, with an individual focus on
geographic responsibility. Sandra Mombelli is
the Programme Administrator.
As part of a broader knowledge exchange, the ASL Foundation is leading
and coordinating a 2-year programme between India and South Africa. The aim is to
exchange lessons and best practice on how best
to use nature tourism as a force for the alleviation
of poverty.
